Lullaby

Lullaby asks how much agency a child has before they are born while looking at life, love, and gender in "The Projects" in New York and New Jersey in the 1990s. It explores both the real world and a spirit world, where a spirit is readied to enter the real world as a baby.

Research

I love when research looks like a scrapbook of family photos instead of a cold tool. The characters emerge out of this collection of people and styles with their own originality. The research for Lullaby included a lot of primary photographs from the time, and some more modern fashion inspirations for the spirit world.
